Upload Files Through FTP
The first step in setting up your site is uploading the script files to your server. You may upload it to your root folder (public_html) or in a separate folder on your server. Where you upload the files will determine where users go in order to get to their custom homepages.

Set File Permissions
Before we can run the installer, we must change the permissions of some of the files so that the script can fully access them. To do this, we use the CHMOD function which your FTP client should be able to perform when you right-click on a file in the list. The following files need the following permissions:

decryptor.php - 777
init.php - 777
headercode.txt - 777
admin/decryptor.php - 777

Once the file permissions are set, it's time to run the installer.

Run The Installer
To make setup a little easier, an installer has been included in the package. To run the installer, simply navigate to installer.php in your browser. Click next and follow the instructions as you go. When you get to this screen, you will need to put in the details of the mysql database and user that you created. You will also need to put in the path to the script, but remember, if you are installing this on the root of your server (in other words, you want users to visit www.yourdomain.com to go directly to the script) then you leave the path field blank. Otherwise you put the name of the folder or folders followed by a slash, like this (myfolder/ or scripts/contactem/)

Complete Installation
Once you have completed the installation, you will see the following screen. You can now click the link to go to your admin panel and login with the default username and password. Be sure to change the password once you first login, and make sure you CHMOD init.php back to 644 and delete installer.php from your server.

Note: If the link does not take you to your admin panel, it means you have put the wrong value in the "path to script" field while installing. Remember, you are only required to enter the names of any folders you put the script in, followed by a slash. If you have put in the wrong value, delete the MySQL database, recreate it, re-assign the SQL user to the database and run the installer again.

Add Header HTML
Once you login to your admin panel, go to the "settings" page. Here you can change how the header at the top of every custom homepage will look. You will need to put your custom HTML into this box and click the update button. Then you will be able to view a test page to see what it will look like to your users. You can continue to tweak and view the test page until you are happy with the look.

Tip: Use $firstname and $lastname in your html code where you would like the script to display the user's first or last name, this is effective in capturing their attention and getting a better response from your users.

You can also change the size of the header using the header size option. Simple change the number in the box and click update, and again, you will be able to view a test page of the changes.

Add Form Code (Optional)
At this stage, users can now begin creating their custom homepages, and you can use your header to reach out to them whenever you like. Users can create their homepages by using the form on the default index page that the script creates. However, you may want to add a form on another page, or even another website, so that users can create their custom homepages from there.

To do this, you will need the form code that the script will generate for you in the admin panel. Simply copy the code and add it to your html page. The form will then appear and it will send the information to your script wherever it is installed and it will create homepages for your users.

Setup Complete
Your new site is now setup and ready to use. Once your users start creating their homepages, you'll be able to keep in contact with them 24/7 with no more worries about weather that email will make it to their inbox.
