This ReadMe.txt file will guide you thru the steps required
to configure and install Ads Rotator Script on your web site.

Contents
This package (AdsRotator.zip) contains 7 files:

- admin.cgi (PERL Script)
- ads-rotator.cgi (PERL Script)
- redirect.cgi (PERL Script)
- template-1.js (Horizontal Ad Template)
- template-2.js (Vertical Ad Template)
- template.html (Admin Section Template)
- ads.csv (Ads Database)
- default.css (Custom Style Sheet)
- CodeMaker.htm (JavaScript code creator)
- and Readme.txt (this document)

Configure the 'ads-rotator.cgi' , 'redirect.cgi' and 'admin.cgi' Scripts
Open the Scripts 'ads-rotator.cgi' , 'redirect.cgi' and 'admin.cgi' in Notepad or any text editor.

A) Locate the first line which specify the location of PERL
in your system.

The Default value is: #!/usr/bin/perl

Generally this is the location in almost all servers.

In some cases this may be;

#!/usr/sbin/perl

If you are not sure, verify it with your server administrator then
make necessary changes. Please don't remove the '#' sign at the
beginning. You don't have to change the default value if the Script
works properly.

B) Save the 'ads-rotator.cgi' and 'redirect.cgi' files.
When you save the files, some times it will save as 'ads-rotator.cgi.txt'
instead of 'ads-rotator.cgi'. In that case, your have to rename them.

C) Find the following fields in the 'admin.cgi' Script:
$username = 'admin';
$password = 'admin';
You can change the word admin in both the username and password
fields to what ever you like.

$your_domain = 'http://yourdomainhere';
Change the yourdomainhere to match the address of your website.

Configuring other files
A) template.html

Change the following line:

Change yoursite to match the address of your website.

B) template-1.js AND template-2.js

NO CHANGES are necessary.

If you want to change the look of the Ads, you can edit using
any text editors. Please don't make any changes to the variables
like $BkgndColor,$BorderColor,$mtitle1 etc. This step is
recommended only for EXPERIENCED users.

C) ads.csv - Database of Ads.

This is a simple CSV database having 4 fields. Ad Title,
Description, Link URL and a dummy field 'x' has been
separated by '|' pipe sign. You can add any affiliate link
into this database.

We have already included ClickBank affiliate links. You have
to replace the default nickname 'tundra007' with your
ClickBank Nickname. If you find difficult to do it,
please send us your nickname, our staff will do it for you.

To add more Ads to this file, just log into the admin section
once its uploaded or open 'ads.csv'
file on a text editor or spread sheet program and enter
the following 4 values seperated by '|'.

Ad Title|Ad Description|AD URL|AD Image URL|X

(You must press the 'ENTER' key at the end of each line.)

Then save 'ads.csv' file.

Don't rearrange the column order.

Upload the modified files
Upload the following files to your server into a directory
that is allowed to run Perl CGI programs ( Generally /cgi-bin/ ) as
ASCII (PLAIN TEXT) Mode. If you uploaded in Binary mode by mistake, it will not work.

Set CHMOD (global execute permissions) as follows:

- ads-rotator.cgi set to 755
- redirect.cgi set to 755
- admin.cgi set to 755
- template-1.js set to 777
- template-2.js set to 777
- ads.csv set to 777
- template.html set to 777

Upload the following file to your root directory of your site as Binary
- default.css set to 777

If you will be using images you should create a directory for them
and upload the images.

****Do not link to the owner's website for the image! This will cause
the owner to use more bandwidth and they will be able to trace it
back to you. Ask the product owner if you can use a copy of their
image loaded on your website.*****

Creating JavaScript Code
Now, you have to create JavaScript code to place on your sites where
the random ads to be appeared. Just double-click on 'CodeMaker.htm'
file to launch the code maker.

Enter Ads Rotator Script URL: This is the full URL of your script
just uploaded.

Choose Ad Color: You can choose up to 15 types. If you choose random  colors, different colors will be appeared on each refresh.

Choose Ads Orientation: Select 'Horizontal' or 'Vertical'

Enter Keywords relevant to your site: You must enter 3 keywords
(not case sensitive)

Fill-up the form and press 'Generate Code' button. Place
the generated code on suitable places on your WebPages.
You can place these JavaScript codes in any number of pages.

Testing your Ads Rotator Script
If you have followed the above 4 steps properly, this Script will
work perfectly.

Just load the webpage which you inserted the created JavaScript code.
Adsense style ads will be appeared. Try to refresh / reload the page
to make sure different ads appear each time.

If you have not included at least 3 ads for a chosen keyword, a
blank box may appear. So make sure that you have included enough
related ads into the database.

If you experience a problem with the installation that gives you a server
error, it is suggested that you back up and start at the beginning with
a clean unedited copy of the script. Always save a clean copy of any
script that you intend to install.
